Those planning a trip to San Francisco this summer, beware: it could break the bank.
The travel planning website TripAdvisor has released its list of the most and least expensive travel destinations just in time for the summer vacation season. And San Francisco—already recognized for its high cost of living—topped even New York as the priciest city to visit.
TripAdvisor estimates that the daily cost of a trip to San Francisco, known as a TripIndex cost, would hover at around $508. That comprises $380.92 for a hotel, $24.18 for a round-trip taxi, and $102.65 for a dinner for two including cocktails.
Los Angeles and San Diego also ranked among the most expensive travel destinations in the U.S., coming it at #7 and #10 respectively. A trip to Los Angeles will cost you about $408.49. The daily price tag for a trip to San Diego is about $391.12.
The prize for most affordable travel destination goes to the City of Las Vegas, which received a TripIndex cost of $276.03. Of course, that doesn’t count the average gambling budget of a Sin City visitor, estimated at $530 as of last year.
Las Vegas was followed by the cities of Miami, Atlanta, Orlando, and New Orleans. Houston, Dallas, Philadelphia, Minneapolis, and Denver rounded out the top 10 least expensive destinations in the U.S.
