The Palmdale City Council approved an employment agreement with Salvador Mendez on Tuesday, making him the permanent City Manager. The contract was approved five months after Mendez was appointed to the role on an interim basis.
“Serving this community has been one of the greatest privileges of my professional life. Over the past year, I have had the opportunity to serve as Interim City Manager, working alongside an incredible team of dedicated public servants who care deeply about the residents we serve,” Mendez wrote on LinkedIn. “Palmdale is a city with tremendous potential, strong community pride, and a bright future ahead. I am grateful for the trust placed in me by the City Council and look forward to continuing to work together to guide our city forward!”
Palmdale’s last permanent City Manager was Ronda Perez. She departed in August to serve as Malibu’s City Manager.
The City Council was initially divided on whether to immediately transition Mendez to the permanent role. Ultimately, city leaders opted to open the process and accept applications from other candidates.
