AllState Insurance has just released their Best Drivers report, which looks at America’s 200 largest cities and ranks them according to certain safe-driving factors like car collision frequency. According to the report, Visalia was the safest city to drive in California, and 7th in the country. On average, drivers have 12.4 years between accidents, and are 19.4% less likely to get in an accident compared to the national average. Visalia was the only California city to crack the nationwide top 10.
Glendale, California was on the other side of the spectrum, named the worst city to drive in California, with only 5.8 years between accidents for drivers, who are also 72.6% more likely to get in an accident than the average driver.
AllState offered advice to drivers looking to stay safe in cities with dangerous drivers. Mainly, it is important to give yourself plenty of time to reach your destination, and to stay alert, making sure you are prepared to stop or slow down if any unexpected obstacles—like pedestrians, parking cars, city buses, etc.—appear.
