Last week a deputy Los Angeles city attorney was arrested for possession of child pornography. Christopher Richard Garcia had been under surveillance for almost a year on suspicion of possessing and distributing child pornography, according to a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department. The surveillance produced enough evidence to secure a search warrant to search Garcia’s home and seize his computers.
The computers were searched and evidence of questionable images and child exploitation were found. Garcia has officially been charged with “bringing obscene material into the state for sale and possession of material depicting minors engaged in sexual conduct” for material that was allegedly sent on April 2nd, 2013.
Jail records show that he has posted $40,000 bail.
Garcia is listed on the California State Bar website as an attorney for Los Angeles International Airport. He also is reported to have experience working with the U.S. attorney’s office and a joint electronic crimes task force.
The city attorney spokesman released a statement saying that when the office became aware of the allegations placed on Garcia 10 months ago, they placed him on administrative leave immediately. They were not able to give any further comments on the matter.
