Los Angeles is among the top five most popular vacation destinations in the world. But, according to a new survey, its visitors are also suffering from a whole lot of traveler’s remorse.
The City of Angels was recently voted most disappointing travel destination on earth by members of the social networking site, Reddit.com. So, how can that be?
Disappointed travelers had two main complaints. One had to do with some of the city’s aesthetics. Apparently, many visitors are surprised by the abundance of squalor in and around the densely-populated urban center. Aside from that, many travelers found it simply too difficult to get around—particularly on foot. Fortunately for residents and future travelers, that could soon be changing. A report released earlier this summer contends that Los Angeles is is poised to become the next major “walkable” city.
More cultured destinations didn’t fare so well with Reddit voters either. Rounding out the top five were the pyramids of Egypt (what?!); Stonehenge (Huh?); Paris, France (Mais, non!); and the beautiful Venice, Italy. The extravagant City of Dubai was also unfortunate enough to get a dishonorable mention, with one traveler describing it as “overpriced, superficial, fake and unfriendly.”
