Former Fairfield City Council Member Jack Batson has some choice words about retired police officers continuing to serve their cities on councils.
In The Daily Republic, Batson says “Former employees at the controls of the city is too dangerous.”
He goes on to add how Solano County Supervisor Mike Reagan aided in the massive pay increase for then County Administrator Michael D. Johnson. Recently, Johnson has also been cited as receiving the highest amount of government pension, receiving nearly $400,000 annually.
He warns of the dangers in electing more police officers to council positions. But still shows support for unions.
“So I’m all for unions,” Batson said. “But you don’t give unions the keys to the business or to the city. Police and fire took over the city of Vallejo’s budget and it went bankrupt.”
His biggest concern though is the high-priced medical plans. “Lifetime medical costs are eating cities and counties across California alive.”
