Angelenos, listen up. A 16th person has contracted measles in L.A. County and officials say they may have exposed people at more than half a dozen businesses in the West L.A. area.
On July 14th, the person visited Groundwork Coffee (Venice), FrontRunners Shoes (Brentwood), CVS (Brentwood), and American Beauty (Venice). On July 15th, they went to Equinox Gym (Santa Monica), California Chicken Café (Santa Monica), Comerica Bank (Brentwood), and Groundwork Coffee (Downtown L.A.).
For unvaccinated children or adults, that’s cause for concern. According to the CDC, “the measles virus can live for up to two hours in an airspace where the infected person coughed or sneezed.”
With five months left until the new year, there have already been 1,148 measles cases in the U.S. In all of last year, there were 372. 61 cases have been recorded in California.
