President Trump Threatens to Cut California’s Wildfire Funding — Again

Last Wednesday, California Governor Gavin Newsom had some rare praise for the President of the United States.

“His team is performing above and beyond expectation,’’ Newsom said of president's response to the recent wildfires, adding that “every single request we’ve had to the Administration has been met.’’

But four days later, Trump was back to criticizing California’s forest management and Newsom’s performance in particular. Once again, he threatened to cut off federal funding to the state.

"Every year, as the fire’s rage & California burns, it is the same thing-and then he comes to the Federal Government for $$$ help," Trump tweeted. "No more. Get your act together Governor. You don’t see close to the level of burn in other states."

Now Newsom is back to sparring with POTUS.

“You don’t believe in climate change,” he shot back Sunday. “You are excused from this conversation.”

This is not the first time Trump has threatened to pull the plug as fires raged. He made a similar statement last year amid the fires in Paradise and Malibu, angering residents and fire personnel.

Will he actually follow through this time?
