Coronavirus Testing in Los Angeles: Here’s What You Need to Know

So you’ve been coughing, you’re feverish, or maybe you know you’ve been exposed to COVID-19. How do you get tested?

If you’re a resident of L.A. County, a number of different options are available to you — including drive-through sites across multiple cities. Anyone with symptoms can qualify. On Monday evening, officials announced that symptomatic people of any age can be tested. Those over 65 or with pre-existing conditions will be given priority, however. This is a reversal from prior eligibility requirements. Those who have been quarantined due to exposure to COVID-19 are also eligible.

Do not show up at any of the facilities unannounced. You must first register here.

Below is a list of drive-through coronavirus testing locations in L.A. County, provided by the Los Angeles Times:

  • Crenshaw Christian Center (7901 S. Vermont Ave., Los Angeles)
  • Glendale Memorial Hospital (222 W. Eulalia St., Glendale)
  • Hansen Dam Recreation Center (11798 Foothill Blvd., Lake View Terrace, entrance on Osborne Street)
  • High Desert Medical Group (43839 15th St. W., Lancaster)
  • Hotchkin Memorial Training Center (1700 Stadium Way, Los Angeles)
  • Veterans Administration Parking Lot 15 (100 Constitution Ave., at the corner of Davis Avenue, Los Angeles)
  • Gate 17 of the Pomona Fairplex (1101 McKinley Ave., Pomona)
  • Antelope Valley Mall (1233 Rancho Vista Blvd., Palmdale)
  • South Bay Galleria (1815 Hawthorne Blvd., Redondo Beach)

Testing is also being conducted at Carbon Health in Echo Park. This is not a drive-through location.

The test itself takes about 5-10 minutes, but wait times vary considerably. Labs are also overwhelmed with samples, so it can take days—even a week or more—to get results.

If you have any reason to suspect that you have coronavirus, health experts recommend that you isolate yourself immediately from the public and as best as you can from the people in your home.
