West Hollywood Mayor Lindsey Horvath announced Thursday that she will run for the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors’ 3rd District in 2022. The seat is currently held by Sheila Kuehl, who is not seeking another term.

“I am ready to get to work on issues ranging from homelessness to transportation, justice to the environment, public health to an economic recovery that includes everyone. I believe we as a county can move forward on these issues to greatly improve the lives of all who call Los Angeles County home,” Horvath said in a statement.

“As city councilmember and mayor of West Hollywood, I have worked tirelessly to create jobs, find solutions for homelessness, and expand greener transportation options. I will fight for policies that expand this work and protect the rights of our most vulnerable communities.”

Horvath served as a council member from 2009-2011 and was re-elected again in 2015. She served as a Transportation Commissioner from 2011-2015, represented West Hollywood on the Executive Board of California Contract Cities, and served on the Los Angeles Unified School District Redistricting Commission in 2011. She is an advertising executive by trade with a B.A. in Political Science and Gender Studies from the University of Notre Dame.

Horvath will be competing with at least one other former LA County mayor. State Assemblyman Richard Bloom, who was previously mayor of Santa Monica, is also running for District 3.
