A second city council member in New Jersey has been shot dead in what authorities call a “dreadful coincidence.”
Milford Borough Councilmember Russell Heller, 51, was found dead just after 7 a.m. last Wednesday in the parking lot of his workplace PSE&G. The alleged shooter Gary T. Curtis, 58, was a former PSE&G employee. He later turned the gun on himself.
Authorities do not believe the motive was political, nor do they believe it has any connection to the recent murder of another Republican council member from a town 15 miles away.
As City News reported, on Feb. 1, Sayreville, New Jersey Councilwoman Eunice Dwumfour was shot and killed in a vehicle outside her home. Police have no suspects or motives in the case.
