Towns across the San Joaquin Valley are flooded and bracing for more as a twelfth atmospheric river storm pummels the Golden State.
Evacuations were ordered Sunday for Alpaugh and the historic Black town of Allensworth in Tulare County, where a levee break complicated efforts. Authorities believe the breach may have been an intentional act.
Flooding has devastated parts of Tulare including Woodlake, Lindsay, and Porterville. Cities have been scrambling to issue emergency declarations, the Sun Gazette reports.
In Tulare, flooding has destroyed at least seven homes so far, while 62 structures have suffered major damage.
Multiple agencies including the National Guard have gone door-to-door to get people out amid rising floodwaters. At least 12,000 people are now under evacuation.
