Move over, Amsterdam. Despite federal prohibition, when it comes to cannabis, America is where it’s at.

Of course, some states and cities are far friendlier for marijuana users. And now we have a list from Real Estate Witch ranking the Best Weed Cities in the U.S. for 2022.

First, a list of factors that Real Estate Witch considered in determining a city’s placement:

  • Legality of marijuana (30)
  • Google Trends data for 13 common marijuana search terms (10)
  • Price of 1 ounce of high-quality marijuana and 1 ounce of medium-quality marijuana every three months as a percentage of annual income (9)
  • Price of 1 ounce of high-quality weed (9)
  • Price of 1 ounce of medium-quality weed (8)
  • Number of dispensaries per 100,000 residents within 25 miles (7)
  • Number of head shops per 100,000 residents within 25 miles (7)
  • Number of Taco Bells per 100,000 residents (4)
  • Music festivals within a 100-mile radius, small concert venues per 100,000 residents, movie theaters per 100,000 residents, and number of local hiking trails according to the AllTrails database (1 each)

These factors were used to compare the 50 most populous U.S. metro areas. Smaller cities were not part of the consideration.

The majority of top Weed Cities were on the West Coast and half of the top 10 were in California.
