10 California localities made this list: Rancho Santa Margarita (18), Aliso Viejo (52), Moorpark (66), Danville (74), Lake Forest (81), Saratoga (84), Poway (90), Rancho Palos Verdes (91), Mission Viejo (95), and Foster City (98).
37 percent of the safest cities on the list were in Massachusetts and Illinois.
