Trouble always seems to find former Stockton Mayor Anthony Silva.
The ex-mayor was arrested last Thursday for violating the terms of a protective order. In addition to allegations of money laundering and embezzlement, he now faces a felony weapons charge.
Silva was found in possession of a registered gun, which is a violation of the order against him.
“Mr. Silva was unaware of this legal restriction and was in possession of legally registered weapon,” Silva’s attorney, Allen Sawyer, said in a statement. “That is the basis of his arrest."
Silva served as Mayor of Stockton from 2012 to 2016. He was ousted from office amid a torrent of scandals, including accusations that he embezzled funds from the former Stockton Boys & Girls Club. A trial in that case is scheduled to begin April 17.
