There are few decisions in life as important as where to raise one’s family. Fortunately, the website ApartmentList.com has done the research to make that job a little easier.
The site looked at four factors to determine the best cities for young families, including safety, housing costs, quality of schools, and child friendliness—that is, the percentage of the population under the age of 18.
Making the top five were Fishers, IN; Allen, TX; Naperville, IL; Castle Rock, CO, and Frisco, TX. They were followed by the cities of Carmel, IN; Olathe, KS; Ankeny, IA; Franklin, TN; and Lakeville, MN.
California was no stranger to the list, however. In fact, 8 cities in the Golden State made it into top 50.
Rocklin, California took the prize for the best city for young families in California, coming it at #13. With a score of 87/100, it was the only California city to make it into the list’s top 20. Pleasanton, meanwhile, was the next to follow at #27 (score: 85). Other California cities in the top 50 include Pleasanton, Elk Grove, Tustin, Dublin, Fremont, Torrance, and Lake Elsinore.
