The Tustin City Council has appointed Artesia City Manager Aldo Schindler as its next chief administrator. Schindler was hired Tuesday, May 7. He starts his new job on June 10.
“We are extraordinarily fortunate to have attracted one of the leading city managers in the region,” said Mayor Austin Lumbard. “Given the Council’s commitment to completing projects like the buildout of Tustin Legacy and enhancing community amenities, Mr. Schindler’s extensive economic and community development experience will truly allow us to continue to build a prosperous community and a model of municipal excellence.”
Schindler has managed Artesia since November of 2022. He previously served as Assistant City Manager in Moreno Valley. Before that, he spent eight years with the City of Downey, serving as Director of Community Development and then Deputy City Manager.
Schindler earned his Master’s Degree in Public Policy and Administration from Cal State Long Beach and his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from San Diego State University. He is a member of the International City/County Management Association and International Council of Shopping Centers. He is also a Graduate of the CORO Leadership Southern California Program.

“Tustin has a phenomenal reputation in the industry and I am honored to lead one of Orange County’s premier municipalities. I look forward to building partnerships with the City Council, City staff, and community stakeholders that will all have a key role in the future success of Tustin.”
Artesia has announced the appointment of Deputy City Manager Melissa Burke as Interim City Manager.
