Huling studied Political Science at UC San Diego and obtained his Masters in Public Policy from Pepperdine University's School of Public Policy. He is currently employed as a Senior Planner in Clark County, Nevada and serves as an Advisory Council Member at the Davenport Institute for Public Engagement and Civic Leadership.
Drawing on examples from the Rust Belt, Las Vegas and Pittsburgh, Huling discusses how and why local economies should be diversified.
