Beaumont Deputy City Manager Gustavo Romo has transitioned to the role of Interim City Manager. Romo was appointed by the City Council last month. He replaces Elizabeth Gibbs, who left on December 1 after a distinguished 30-year career with the city.
“Elizabeth’s leadership has left a lasting mark on Beaumont,” Mayor Mike Lara said in a statement. “From her ability to guide complex projects to her passion for engaging residents, she has embodied the very best of public service. We are grateful for her decades of dedication and wish her the very best.”
“The Council is confident in Romo’s ability to guide the organization during this transition period,” Lara added. “The community can be assured that city operations will remain strong and focused on serving Beaumont’s residents.”
Romo’s experience in local government also spans more than three decades. He has served as Deputy City Manager since March and previously held the same position in Bell Gardens. He will hold the interim title while the city searches for a permanent replacement.
Beaumont is a city of approximately 59,000 located in Riverside County. The city manager serves as its operations officer and is tasked with supervising day-to-day operations of all city departments, advising the City Council on important issues, and implementing the Council’s goals and objectives.
