The City of Ojai has a new chief executive. Ben Harvey completed his first day as city manager on Monday, January 29.
Harvey was named to the post on Jan. 19, and his contract was approved four days later. He’ll earn a base salary of $250,000 per year plus a cell phone and auto allowance and $5,000 for temporary rental housing. He is also eligible for down payment home loan assistance totaling $420,000.
Between 2016 and 2023, Harvey served as city manager in Pacific Grove. Previously, he was the city manager of Avalon. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and French from the University of California, Davis and a Master of Public Administration from California State University, Long Beach.
Ojai’s last permanent city manager, James Vega, left over summer to manage Port Hueneme.
