Here’s one place Kim and Kanye definitely won’t be shopping for their signature fur coats from now on: Berkeley, California. Berkeley became the second city in the nation to ban the sale of fur apparel in a vote by the city council Tuesday. West Hollywood was the first to adopt such an ordinance four years ago.
Council Member Kriss Worthington introduced the measure with the backing of the Berkeley Coalition for Animals.
“We applaud the council’s leadership in helping to end this cruel industry,” said founding member of the coalition, Amy Halpern-Laff.
The ordinance didn’t appear to meet with much resistance. After all, it’s 2017 and we enjoy pretty impeccable weather. A fur coat is hardly a staple around here unless you’re Cruella de Vil.
