The holidays are a tough time to be single. But if you’re still looking for someone to kiss beneath that mistletoe, San Francisco is the place to be.
According to WalletHub, San Francisco is the friendliest city for singles in the United States. The credit site just compiled its list of 2016’s Best & Worst Cities for Singles and SF took the No. 1 spot, followed by Orlando and Seattle. San Diego made No. 4. Boston, Austin, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Miami and Los Angeles rounded out the top 10.
WalletHub formulated its rankings based on 3 main factors: dating economics (think the cost of dinner), romance and fun (i.e. things to do), and dating opportunities. Though San Francisco is pricey—and that may be the understatement of the year—it won big in the second and third categories. It has the most nightlife options per capita, for example.
Other California cities in the top 50 include San Jose (42), Irvine (47), and Riverside (50). As for the worst places to be unattached, those are Brownsville, TX (150); Hialeah, FL (149); Yonkers, NY (148); Port St. Lucie, FL (147); Pembroke Pines, FL (146); and Moreno Valley, CA (145).
