Nearly 29% of Americans live with a disability of some kind. Many are unemployed or experience hardships and discrimination in the workplace
In honor of National Disability Employment Awareness Month in October, WalletHub has compared more than 180 cities across the U.S. to determine the most and least disability-friendly. The site relied on 33 indicators tied to economic wellbeing, health, and quality of life. Only cities with large populations were analyzed.
These are the five best cities for people with disabilities in California, according to WalletHub (national rankings in parenthesis):
Huntington Beach (6)
Irvine (2)
Santa Ana (21)
Glendale (26)
Fresno (35)
Fremont is the city with the highest percentage of disabled residents, followed by Irvine.
