Few places are as spectacular as California. The weather is great, the beaches are always at your fingertips, and we invented In-N-Out. With that said, it isn’t easy narrowing the state down to a list of “bests.” But the people over at Area Vibes have tried.
The site recently mapped out the Best Places to Live in California in 2016. That’s subjective, of course. But they kept it 100 by developing their own Livability Index—a metric based on stats for education, employment, housing, crime, weather, income and more.
The 10 best places to live in the Golden State were as follows:
1. Monte Sereno
2. Hidden Hills
3. Camino Tassajara
4. Orinda
5. Los Altos
6. Danville
7. San Ramon
8. Agoura Hills
9. Saratoga
10. Yorba Linda
Among cities with populations of 500,000 or more:
1. San Jose
2. San Diego
3. Los Angeles
4. San Francisco
