Summer is just 26 days away and we could all use a little vacation. The hard part always seems to be picking a spot that everyone can agree on. Before you duke it out with your spouse and kids or resign to drawing straws, consider WalletHub’s recent list of the best destinations for R&R in 2017.
The credit site’s researchers took 80 of the most popular U.S. vacation sites and then scored them against 38 key metrics. They were looking for ease and cost of travel, things to do, weather, and safety.
Here’s what they found:
Sin City’s where it’s at
Las Vegas-Henderson-Paradise, NV scored #1 on WalletHub’s list thanks to a cornucopia of attractions. Just remember that old slogan, “what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas,” is obsolete in the digital age. So drink wisely and avoid snapchat, my friends.
Southern California is still pretty hot
Los Angeles-Long Beach-Anaheim took the #2 spot, with high marks for attractions and weather as well. It was followed by Orlando, Chicago, and San Diego-Carlsbad.
San Francisco continues to play second fiddle
Bay lovers may be surprised to learn that San Francisco was ranked #28 by WalletHub. It was beat out by both Sacramento-Roseville-Arden-Arcade (#9) and even Stockton-Lodi (#25). It’s still a vast improvement over last year when it ranked #46.
Other California cities on this list: Riverside-San Bernardino (#37); San Jose-Sunnyvale-Santa Clara (#39); Fresno (#46); Bakersfield (#48); and Oxnard-Thousand Oaks-Ventura (#73).
