Paul Pelosi, husband of Democratic House Speak Nancy Pelosi, was taken to the hospital Friday following a violent attack by a person who invaded the couple's San Francisco home just before 2:30 A.M. NBC News reports the attacker shouted, "Where is Nancy? Where is Nancy?" while inside the home.
The man who attacked Paul Pelosi allegedly used a hammer in the attack. He is now in police custody.
SFPD Chief Bill Scott has identified the suspect as 42-year-old David Depape of Berkeley. "The motive for this attack is still being determined," Scott said at a press conference. Depape is being charged with attempted homicide, assault with a deadly weapon, burglary and elder abuse.
Paul Pelosi suffered severe injuries to his head and body but was taken into surgery and is expected to make a full recovery.
UPDATE: A review of Depape's social media accounts shows he "posted memes and conspiracy theories about Covid, the 2020 election, and the 1/6 attack."
This is a developing story. Check back for more updates.
