The Mayor of Stockton is having a rough week.
Mayor Anthony Silva was arrested this morning at a children’s camp on several charges. The FBI was previously handling this case, but handed it over to Amador County where the District Attorney has since issued a felony warrant for Silva.
FOX40 News has obtained court documents that reveal Silva’s charges as recording confidential communications, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, providing alcohol to someone under 21 and cruelty to a child by endangering health.
Silva is no stranger to scandal.
In 2005, when he was a water polo coach he was accused of secretly recording underage girls changing. About six years later he was accused of sexually assaulting a woman. A few years after that the city manager asked for Silva to be investigated under the belief he was secretly recording conversations. In December 2014 a fight broke out in a limousine he was riding in which ended with him in handcuffs. Charges were never brought on for any of these cases it seems until now.
Additionally, early last year, a City Salary Setting Commission recommended the mayor’s salary be reduced by at least $32,000 which the city attorney agreed with and requested the city council vote in favor of. And on his return trip from China late last year, he had two laptops and a phone confiscated from him.
And just this week it was confirmed that the 40-caliber semi-automatic pistol used to kill 13-year-old Rashawn “Ray Ray” Harris last year was one that was stolen from Silva’s home.
It seems that Michael Tubbs, District 6 councilman and Silva’s competitor for the mayoral seat in November, is getting closer to being the new mayor of Stockton.
