Voters in the City of Brisbane have approved a new marijuana tax that could eventually bring $300,000 into city coffers annually.
Measure E passed with 81.56% of the vote on Nov. 5. It imposes a cannabis business license tax of 6% on gross receipts.
Measure E revenue will go toward general municipal expenses. The measure was placed on the ballot by a prior vote of the city council.
Cannabis businesses are not yet approved to operate in Brisbane. That decision could happen next year.
