A veteran employee of Burbank in Los Angeles County is retiring, leaving a key vacancy in his wake.
Burbank City Manager Ron Davis announced his retirement last Wednesday, effective Sept. 30. His departure will conclude 17 years with the city, including the past three as city manager.
Assistant City Manager Justin Hess has already taken over as acting city manager, according to the Los Angeles Times. Parks and Recreation Director Judie Wilke is now the acting assistant city manager, so the top Parks and Rec slot is open.
Before becoming Burbank’s top administrator, Davis was the general manager of Burbank Water and Power.
“He really worked with staff and brought them along to greater positions of accountability, ownership and innovation,” helping to bring the utility back from the brink of financial crisis, Mayor Emily Gabel-Luddy said.
“He has always been a mentor to people working with him, and if you talk to anyone that worked for him, it was more like they worked with him.”
