AB 1490: Adaptive Reuse of Existing Buildings and Residential Conversion of Commercial Buildings for Affordable Housing

AB 1490 was signed into law on October 11, 2023, and is intended to facilitate the adaptive reuse of existing buildings as well as residential conversion of commercial buildings.  Read more. 

AB 1218: Expansion of “No Net Loss” Regulations

AB 1218 became effective on January 1, 2024, and expands the “no net loss” provisions in the Housing Crisis Act of 2019 (“HCA”) that prohibit cities from reducing the capacity for housing development, including demolition protections designed to ensure that there is no net reduction of housing in the State. Read more. 

AB 821: Resolving General Plan and Zoning Conflicts

AB 821 allows a development project to move forward in a timely manner where the project complies with the general plan but the local agency’s zoning ordinance is inconsistent. Read more.
