Another councilman from California City has stepped down, becoming the third to resign in as many months.
Michael Hurles resigned Friday, October 10 while facing a proposed censure resolution that accused him of misusing city resources, being excessively absent from meetings, and “lunging” at a colleague during a closed-door session.
“Based on the conduct and behavior of former member Hurles, we all agreed that we needed to take action,” said Mayor Marq Hawkins.
Jim Creighton has been selected as the new mayor pro-tem.
Hurles’ departure follows the resignations of Jesse Hightower and Michael Kulikoff in July.
