California City has filled a vacancy on its city council. LaShelle Cooper has been appointed to the dais in place of former council member Karen Macedonio, who resigned in January.
Cooper worked as a clerk in the city’s planning department from November 2022 to August 2023. She was one of 11 people who applied for the open seat.
“I’d like to see things grow in California City. I’d like to be involved in making those decisions that collaborate with all of you to have change in the city, where needed,” she said.
Cooper will complete the remainder of Macedonio’s term, which ends in December. A new council member will be chosen by voters in November.
