California City Police Chief Resigns

California City Police Chief Jon Walker has resigned, effective March 31. The decision was voluntary, according to Mayor Jeanie O’Laughlin.

Walker was appointed in January 2020 following the retirement of Eric Hurtado. His law enforcement career spans more than 30 years.

California City has been at the center of a high-profile missing juveniles case. Brothers Orson and Orrin West disappeared from their California City home over a year ago. Police suspect foul play.

City Manager Anne Ambrose will oversee the recruitment process for the city’s next police chief.
