California City has sworn in its newest police chief, retired Los Angeles Police sergeant Jon Walker. He took the oath of office at the city’s council meeting on Jan. 14.
Walker’s law enforcement career spans more than 30 years. He replaces Eric Hurtado, who also spent more than three decades with the department before announcing his retirement in October 2019.
Hurtado led the California City Police Department for the past 81/2 years. That’s the longest tenure for any California City police chief, according to 23ABC.
