Supporters of former California Fire Chief Justin Vincent were hoping they could convince the city to bring him back. They’re going to be sorely disappointed.
ABC23 reports that the city is moving ahead with the appointment of a new chief, expected to be announced this Friday. Despite their objections to Vincent’s abrupt termination, residents won’t be seeing him return to city’s ranks anytime soon.
As City News reported earlier this month, Vincent’s termination has upset many members of the community and is likely to culminate a wrongful termination lawsuit. According to Vincent’s lawyer, the chief was fired for enforcing fire codes on cannabis businesses, despite council members’ alleged insistence that he look the other way.
