For the first time in more than 30 years, the California Contract Cities Association has welcomed a new executive director. Former Norwalk City Councilman Marcel Rodarte assumed the position on July 1, replacing longtime executive director Sam Olivito.
Sam issued the following statement to friends and colleagues Tuesday:
It is with mixed emotions I write to let you know as of July 1, 2016 I'm officially retired after 32 years of service to the California Contract Cities Association as Executive Director. I close the door on what has been a magnificent journey and open the door on the next chapter of our life.
I want to thank each and every one of you for the support and help as we managed the affairs of CCCA, and in particular, the many principled elected officials and the professional city managers who assisted in this journey.
I may be out golfing, or traveling with Sharon. Something you can look forward to when you've reached this stage in the journey of life.
Rodarte has been training with Olivito since April. He vacated his council seat on June 21.
