Ventura County was the first, as it recently added a dozen apps to the App Store-style website.
Santa Clara County, Humboldt County, and the City of Palo Alto are also online with their own apps.
California currently has the most apps in the state run gallery. State CIO Carlos Ramos revealed no plans of slowing down saying that he expects more cities and counties to come online so that the California public is not left with a wild goose chase around the internet when looking for relevant apps.
The California Mobile Gallery got an overhaul last fall, with state staff improving the site responsiveness and search functions for users and an analytics system for developers.
The Gallery hosts only a couple dozen apps, but they cover just about all things California.
Weather, Traffic, DMV, Jobs, and Veterans Affairs are just the tip of the iceberg as California government comes into its own with its new cyberspace.
