WalletHub has released new rankings of America’s Safest Cities in 2025. The list was compiled after comparing 182 U.S. localities, including the country's 150 most populated cities and at least two of the most populated cities in each state.
The researchers looked at 41 metrics across three main categories: 1) Home & Community Safety, 2) Natural-Disaster Risk, and 3) Financial Safety. They considered everything from mass shootings and murders to active firefighters per capita, earthquake risk, and even relevant economic conditions.
Warwick, Rhode Island was ranked as the safest city in the nation. New Orleans, Louisiana was ranked as the country's least safe city.
