Dave Norman, come on down!
Dave Norman has been with Camarillo since 2012, where he came on originally as the city’s Community Development Director. He got the promotion to Assistant City Manager in 2015, and now he got a unanimous vote for the top job. Must be doing something right…
Norman will succeed the retiring Bruce Feng, who departs Camarillo City Hall on April 5. Feng held the post for six years, he announced his retirement earlier this month.
Norman comes into the job having served as City Manager of nearby Port Hueneme for six years before his arrival to Camarillo. He also can boast 25 years’ experience on the local government scene.
The City Council had opted to not conduct a competitive recruitment process. Mayor Mike Morgan gave a nice quote, saying "When we recruited before, we saw some strange folks coming here. So, I'd rather go with someone in house that we know and who has done a good job already."
Strange, you say? In local government…
Anyway, best of luck to Mr. Norman as City Manager.
