A new analysis from Southern California News Group shows the City of Hanford in Kings County is the cheapest place to live in California, though it still ranks higher than 295 other U.S. metros for cost of living.
Hanford was ranked as the 89th most expensive metro nationally. The second-cheapest metro in California is Merced, which still ranks 80th for cost of living among the 384 metros analyzed.
Merced was followed by El Centro (Imperial County), Visalia (Tulare County), Bakersfield (Kern County), Redding (Shasta County), Madera, Yuba (Sutter County), Fresno, and Chico (Butte County).
The cheapest place to live in the United States is Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Another California metro — San Francisco — took the number one spot for the highest cost of living in America.
