Chico has moved one step closer to regulating cannabis storefronts.
A majority of council members voted to authorize brick-and-mortar dispensaries in the city. Staff is now working on an ordinance.
“The city council made it a priority to move forward with this process," City Manager Mark Orme told Action News Now. "City staff is still in the midst of getting all the pieces in place in order to authorize the acceptance of permits.”
Four businesses will be able to secure retail permits in Chico.
Councilman Sean Morgan opposed the item, but doesn’t seem too displeased with the way things turned out. He said the decision was likely inevitable and that the restrictions city leaders are discussing are reasonable.
