Livingston Interim City Manager Christopher Lopez has signed a three-year contract with California City to serve as its chief administrator. The contract calls for a base salary of $190,000 per year.
California City has been without a permanent city manager for two years. Several temporary managers have passed in and out of the job over the last 24 months. A permanent administrator was almost hired last year, but negotiations fell apart at the eleventh hour.
The revolving door continues to spin even before Lopez takes the reins. Acting City Manager Latisha Lamberth will hand responsibilities over to Public Safety Director Justin Vincent before Lopez begins his new job.
Lopez’s start date is February 17. There was a proposal to have him work a maximum of 10 hours per week before that date. That proposal was rejected 3-2.
Livingston hired Lopez as interim city manager in 2023. He had previously managed Hemet in Riverside County.
