Citrus Heights Police Chief Christopher W. Boyd has been selected to replace outgoing city manager Henry Tingle. The City Council announced its decision Thursday, effective October 1.
Boyd, 49, has headed the Citrus Heights Police Department since its establishment in 2006. He also served one term as president of Cal Chiefs, a statewide association that represents more than 300 police chiefs across California.
Boyd is known as a strong advocate for community policing and youth outreach, and has been credited with numerous crime reduction strategies during his tenure. He holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and sociology, as well as a master’s in Public Administration.
The city “really couldn’t ask for a more ideal candidate,” said Mayor Jeannie Bruins. “His experience affords him a vantage point many city managers do not have.”
Citrus Heights' current city manager announced his plans to retire at the start of the year. He has been with the city since 1999.
