In a strategic move to enhance public green spaces, the City of Baldwin Park has been awarded a $2 million grant from the LA County Regional Park and Open Space District’s Acquisition Only 2024 Program. The funding marks a significant milestone in the city’s ongoing efforts to expand and preserve open space for its residents.
The grant application was successfully crafted through a collaborative effort between Senior Project Manager David Marquez, Management Assistant Sam D’Ambrosio, and City Administration. Their joint work in aligning the city’s vision with funding priorities played a pivotal role in securing the award.
“We are thrilled to receive this grant on behalf of our community,” said Baldwin Park Mayor Alejandra Avila. “This funding will allow us to address historic inequities by creating a vibrant new green space in an area that has lacked easy access to recreational opportunities. We are proud that Baldwin Park’s efforts to prioritize inclusivity, sustainability and community well-being have been recognized through this grant award, and we look forward to transforming this space into a resource that will benefit our residents for years to come.”
The funds will be used exclusively for land acquisition, with details on specific projects expected to be released in the coming months. As Baldwin Park continues its push for sustainable urban development, this grant underscores the city’s commitment to balancing growth with accessible outdoor spaces for the community.
