The Martinez City Council announced during their March 6 meeting that Eric Figueroa will be appointed the next city manager. Figueroa will be leaving San Ramon where he served as Assistant City Manager since 2014.
According to the Danville San Ramon, Figueroa was selected from a pool of 35 applicants from across the nation. The base pay for his new position will be $234,000 per year.
Martinez is all too used to welcoming new city managers as Figueroa’s appoint comes just shy of three years after appointing Brad Kilger who has decided to retire. Figueroa is Martinez’s sixth city manager since 2013.
Upon Figueroa’s departure, San Ramon will be restructuring their city manager’s office. Current City Manager Joe Gorton has decided to eliminate the Assistant City Manager position, which is currently classified as a “department head” level position, and replace it with a Deputy City Manager, a “division manager” classification, and a management analyst.
