The City of Needles has recently secured an impressive $4,791,850.72 in grant funding,  a significant milestone that reflects the city’s ongoing commitment to growth,  sustainability, and community well-being. Thanks to the tireless efforts of city  administration and the expert guidance of California Consulting, several transformative  grants have been awarded to support the city's future:

1. Statewide Park Development and Community Revitalization Program The City of Needles has been awarded $3,965,400.00 by the California  Department of Parks and Recreation. This competitive program is focused on  creating new parks and recreational opportunities in underserved communities.  For Needles, this grant will be a game-changer, providing much-needed green  spaces and recreational facilities to enhance residents’ quality of life and foster  community engagement.

2. CalTrans Sustainable Planning Transportation Grant Program Needles also secured $203,987.00 through CalTrans’ Sustainable Planning  Transportation Grant Program. These funds will be used to update the  Transportation Element of the General Plan, ensuring that Needles grows in a  sustainable and well-planned manner. This is a critical step in shaping the city's  future transportation infrastructure to meet the needs of its residents.

3. CalTrans Local Road Safety Program

The city received $40,000.00 from the CalTrans Local Road Safety Program.  This grant will fund a city-wide systemic safety analysis, a vital initiative that will  prepare Needles for the Highway Safety Improvement Program. The analysis will  help identify key areas for safety enhancements, contributing to the well-being of  all who travel through the city.

4. U.S. Bureau of Reclamation WaterSMART Water and Energy Efficiency  Program

Lastly, Needles has been awarded $582,463.72 through the U.S. Bureau of  Reclamation's WaterSMART Water and Energy Efficiency Program. These funds  will be used to upgrade the city’s manual water and electricity meters to  Automated Meter Reading (AMR), leading to more efficient resource use,  reducing waste, and promoting sustainability.

Total Success: $4,791,850.72 in Grant Funding

In total, the City of Needles has secured $4,791,850.72 in grant awards, an  extraordinary achievement that highlights the city's dedication to improving the lives of  its residents. These grants will have a lasting impact, providing resources for parks and  recreation, transportation planning, road safety, and utility efficiency.

City Manager Patrick Martinez stated:

“Securing nearly $5 million in grant funding is a monumental achievement for the City of  Needles. This success is a testament to the hard work and collaboration between our  city administration, California Consulting, and our dedicated staff. Together, we have  positioned Needles for a brighter future, one that prioritizes the well-being of our  residents and the sustainable growth of our community.”

Needles is on a path of growth and innovation, and these grant awards demonstrate  what can be achieved through strategic planning and effective partnerships.  Congratulations to the City of Needles and all involved in securing these grants! This  success story is a shining example of how targeted grant writing and collaboration can  unlock new opportunities for communities across California. Keep an eye on Needles as  these exciting projects come to life!
