How do we promote good governance and improve the quality of our communities? Author and educator Andrew Schrock thinks the answer lies in a dynamic mix of technology and civic activism, and now he’s literally writing the book on the subject.
The Kickstarter campaign for Andrew's poignant new book, Civic Tech: Making Technology Work for People, is now up and running. He'll offer 128 pages of stories, pictures and strategies about how government and communities can work together to build a brighter tomorrow.
The project couldn’t have come at a more appropriate time.
“Civic life today in the United States seems like it's on life support,” says Andrew. “Our elections are defined by partisan battles, and volunteerism is low. Our communities are suffering. It’s easy to wonder... how do we strengthen government & community life together? Where are the positive stories about civic engagement and participation?”
The answer lies in a new generation of leaders who are changing the culture of government and overcoming gridlock through technology.
Andrew's work is already generating praise from academic and political circles. You can read the first chapter here.
