Crescent City has chosen its replacement for former City Manager Eugene Palazzo, six months after he left for the same job in Galt. David VanDermark was unanimously approved by the city council during a special meeting June 27 and has already assumed the position. He will earn an annual salary of $110,840.
For the past 11 years, VanDermark has worked in Winston, Oregon, serving as city manager, city recorder, and director of the Urban Renewal Agency. He has also served as mayor and as a city councilman. The Winston City Council voted to terminate him last year, citing the need for a new direction for the city.
“I am very excited to begin this new opportunity and help guide Crescent City. My family looks forward to becoming part of the community,” VanDermark said of the new job in Crescent City. “The town just looks like a place that's ready to thrive and the council is excited and interested in the community."
