Cupertino City Manager Pamela Wu has stepped down — and her departure will cost the city $311,098.53.
The large severance is part of a settlement agreement between Wu and the City of Cupertino. According to San Jose Spotlight, Cupertino must also cease any investigations into Wu’s conduct and destroy all records associated with those probes.
Wu was appointed to the job in 2022 after serving as San Bruno’s community and economic development director. Last month, the City Council placed her on leave but did not disclose the reasons for that decision.
Wu’s exit highlights a record of instability in this wealthy, Silicon Valley town. In the past seven years, Cupertino has had six permanent or interim city managers.
