The Democratic National Convention kicked off Monday in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Over the next three days, the nation will continue hear from a star-studded list of speakers, including current Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, as well as his predecessor Antonio Villaraigosa. Both men are speaking before the delegation Thursday.
Mayor Garcetti was briefly considered a possible candidate for Hillary Clinton’s Vice President. Villaraigosa is said to be considering a run for governor but has also been mentioned as a possible replacement for DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who just resigned amid a troubling email scandal. (There sure do seem to be a lot of those lately.)
A host of other California politicians will also be speaking at the convention, including Gov. Jerry Brown and Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom; Sen. Barbara Boxer; and Reps. Maxine Waters, Ted Lieu, Adam Schiff, Judy Chu, Linda Sanchez, Xavier Becerra and Nancy Pelosi. Los Angeles City Council members Joe Buscaino, David Ryu, Bob Blumenfield and Marqueece Harris-Dawson will also be in attendance.
